Case Study: Shell Gas & Power, USA, April 2007
ACT was contacted by Shell to see if we could provide Conferencing Services for a 3-day event to be held in April 2007 involving Australia, Netherlands, Nigeria, Scotland, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and US.
The video conferences were a mixture of IP & ISDN, and they were run on two different equipment platforms to include Polycom & Tandberg.
It took coordination of 4 Video Conference Centers and 2 Audio Conference Centers to help set these series of calls up. The calls ran over a three day period, with the first day running 24 hours in total. ACT provided a Communications Line for all of the calls, along with 10 Audio ports for those users that weren't able to use a video conference to dial into.
Normally the annual event takes place at a hotel and requires employees to fly in from all across the globe. Total annual cost for the event runs around $500,000. In 2007 they decided to try and save the company money as well as employees' unproductive travel time, and use video conferencing. Total estimated cost of the 3-day event was approximately $15,000 (including the audio charges), providing a savings of $485,000 in travel expenses.
The event was a huge success.
